Is designed to give those with no experience an opportunity to learn a new career skill and gain employment as a prep cook or other basic kitchen position in one of Indianapolis most dynamic industries. Training includes 6-weeks hands-on food preparation and classroom instruction. Students learn cooking, food preparation, sanitation and restaurant operations. The program is taught by a professional chef.
Who is eligible for the training The program targets low-income people throughout Marion County with little or no culinary experience.
Community Kitchen We are a 6 week food Preparation training program aimed at giving our students a second chance in life by providing all of the skills necessary to be successful in the food service industry.
The Community Kitchen is a life skills and food service training program for those with barriers to employment. Students gain the skills to get jobs offering livable wages, benefits, and opportunities for advancement through hands-on food service training as well as classroom studies.
New sessions start every four weeks. In addition to training, each student receives food Handler Certification.
